December 2022, plans are in place to get back to Northland and bring the Never Ending Story to Christchurch where she will get her final touches ready for a sail to Samoa. The Cook Island Registry is underway. She will be equipped with additional internet, hot water for shower, SSB radio AIS. We will get her down over Christmas and New Year after fitting a structure on the back for shelter while on the wheel and re-arranging some stowage. Dylan one of our cadets will join us for the trip, he has been sailing with Eco Pirates for the last six years around Banks Peninsula and this will be his first real coastal.

Exciting news this month is that we have been gifted a boat! An old friend who I used to work with in Youth Justice has gifted us her Raven 26. An incredible little boat that is moored currently at French farm near Akaroa. We have gone to see her and she is very tidy, in need of a clean - antifoul and some paint and she should be all go. We will head back sailing Delight over to French Farm next week loaded with tools and supplies to get the engine going and do a more full survey of work that will need to be done. It will be great to have the Raven up and going seeking out and cataloging local wildlife before getting her off to the islands.

There are great stories about this model of boat, although small, very sea worthy and have completed some incredible blue water missions. We will prepare her for this where she will ultimately work promoting reef conservation, encourage an affinity with the sea and get village people on the water !
